Gay & Lesbian Cruises
Gay and lesbian travellers are welcome aboard any cruise ship today, and you will find many gay and lesbian travelers cruising with you. You may wish to select your cruise itinerary to avoid the historically gay-intolerant places such as Jamaica, Grand Cayman or the Middle East, but other than that mainstream cruising should suit you very well.
If you are on a mainstream cruise, check out the Daily Programme for a Friends of Dorothy meeting. On the open-minded and progressive.ships these are informal gatherings for gay and lesbians passengers to meet and mingle. Some smaller cruise lines occasionally operate dedicated Gay theme cruises and you will find these listed on our Theme Cruise page (see navigation bar above).
Some gays and lesbians prefer to travel on all-gay charters and there are an increasing number of departures each year. These gay charters are organised by specialist Travel Operators and you can easily find them with a "Gay Cruise" search on the web. Most cruises focus on the most popular itineraries such as the Caribbean, Canaries, Mexican Riviera and Mediterranean, but the range of choice is increasing all the time. However, please note that because the gay charter companies build in many "extras" into their cruises, such as special gay-themed parties and entertainers, they can cost 20 to 40 percent more than the same mainstream itinerary.
